Fisher Island Florida is a private neighborhood located three miles off of Miami. No roadway connects to the island, which is accessible by private ferry or helicopter. Created by developer Carl G Fisher and formerly the home of the Vanderbilt family and later several other millionaires, it was sold for development in 1960s, the Fisher Island condos are occupied by several millionaires.
Fisher Island is almost completely autonomous. There’s the Fisher Island Day School which covers Pre-Kindergarten through 5th grade for both on-island and off-island residents as well as a post office and fire department.
Should you choose Fisher Island real estate, there are six restaurants, a Par 35 championship golf course, a pair of marinas, the Vanderbilt clubhouse and plenty of private beachfront to enjoy.
