French architect Jean Nouvel has achieved a number of distinctions throughout his illustrious career, including the prestigious Pritzker Architecture Prize in 2008. Some of his notable works include the Golden Angel administrative complex in Prague and the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis, among many others.

Nouvel is now setting his sights on Miami Beach, the West Avenue neighborhood to be more specific. A 14-story tower is being proposed featuring a manmade lagoon and one side with a suspended “vegetation screen”, or sheet of leaves that should make the building stand out among its neighbors. Based on photos, the as yet unnamed tower will be making heavy use of glass and will include a total of 80 units available with two to five bedrooms. The tower will also include a pair of penthouses, each with a private pool. All 80 units in the tower will have a minimum of three exposures, though some may also have an additional fourth.

If everything goes according to plan, Nouvel's tower will be 149 feet tall, one foot less than the 150 foot maximum allowed in the area. Since the building will only be 14 stories tall instead of 16 stories, each floor will have higher ceilings. It will also mark Nouvel's first residential project in South Florida.
