Miami’s Square Station Moves Forward

Just a couple of months after the Melody Tower topped off, the Melo Group developer announced its plans for a new project called Square Station earlier this year. The original plans for Square Station were to include a pair of 34-story towers but the project ran into a bit of a roadblock due to the 24-story zoning limitations. After running it by the city commission, Square Station was given the okay to go ahead with its original 34-story plan.

The Miami Planning and Zoning Appeals Board had suggested that the city commission put the kibosh on the zoning change, stating it would set a “negative precedent” and affect future zoning applications. The commission changed its mind after developers promised that 96 of Square Stations’s units would be designated as workforce housing.

Upon completion Square Station will have a total of 710 residential units intended to be used as apartments, more than 900 parking spaces, and over 10,000 square feet of commercial space. Its address will be 1410 Northeast Miami Court, Miami, FL 33132. Details on amenities have yet to be revealed. Construction on the project began last month and it’s estimated that rents will begin at about $1,600.
